KEMAH BOARDWALK |
|||
The
Kemah Boardwalk is a 35 acre restaurant, hotel, amusement ride complex built by
Landry's Restaurant's Inc. in 2001, overlooking Galveston Bay and located in the
Galveston County town of Kemah, which is very
close to Houston. |
|||
The Boardwalk Bullet Roller Coaster and most of the other Kemah Boardwalk rides
were totally destroyed by the storm surge from Hurricane Ike on September 13,
2008. All the rides have been repaired and are back operating, except for the Observation Tower, which is still being worked on. The Crazy Submarine ride did not return. But two new rides have been added, one called Wipeout, the other a 140 foot tower drop. |
|
||
The Landry's restaurants on the Kemah Boardwalk include The Pizza Oven, Saltgrass Steakhouse, Babin's Seafood House, Aquarium Restaurant, Chart House, Joe's Crab Shack, Cadillac Bar, Red Sushi and The Flying Dutchman. Joe's Boardwalk Beast is a 140 passenger, 70 foot, open deck speed boat that takes you out on Galveston Bay on a wet and wild 25 minute boat float that goes up to 40 mph and makes high speed turns that will get you wet. |
|||
The rides are priced individually per ride. There is an unlimited ride option
also available, such as what is used at Six Flags Over
Texas. There are many
midway type games along the boardwalk. |
