Glen Rose is approximately 60 miles southwest of Fort Worth, making it a popular getaway for Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex dwellers, with Dinosaur Valley State Park and Fossil Rim Wildlife Center nearby. Glen Rose began as a trading post in 1849, located on the Paluxy
River where it merges with the Brazos River. The Paluxy River is a popular tubing and fishing river. |
|||
Somervell County Historical Museum contains exhibits depicting
local history, fossils and other relics. The museum is open year round Tuesday
through Saturday, 11am - 4pm. A slightly bizarre area attraction is the Creation Evidences Museum with fossil displays, dinosaur footprints and Acrocanthosaurus bones. There is an admission fee. The Promise is a contemporary historic telling of the life of Jesus of Nazareth in musical drama form with a cast of 80, performed in the open-air Texas Amphitheatre. Performances usually run on Friday and Saturday evenings from September through November. Check The Promise website for precise times and dates. |
