Heading out for the photo shoot... |
|
Looking from the left here I think we can identify a few... Mike Slotemaker (the Mel version), Jessie, Vin and Bob Figenbaum, Sharon DeMots, Janelle Slotemaker Trapp. Janelle is the one in white in the center of the photo with what looks to be a bow in her hair, but on closer look the bow turns into sunglasses... |
Many recognizable faces in this photo... |
Here we see Joey Slotemaker looking at his uncle, with his girl friend, Niki, and everyone else heading the other direction. |

So many cameras, so many photos, so many people... |

A very good photo of Agnes surrounded... |

I knew I was looking at the group where Jackson Dutch would be. I asked if Jackson Dutch was there and he was. During the time of learning all the family names Jackson Dutch has been my favorite name. That is not Jackson Dutch in the foreground, I believe that baby is being held by Derek, son of Terry. Jackson Dutch is sort of hiding to the right of Terry and to the left of Calvin. Calvin is Jackson Dutch's grandpa. One learns these things by intently studying those infamous family lists... |
Another view of the same group. I liked both these photos, so I'm putting both of them here.

Agnes and Deloris and Wendy Wood... |
More post-photo lunch photos...in blue, on a distant picnic table, on the right side, by his cousin Wyatt Wood, sits Joey Wood, having arrived too late for the group photo, but in time for lunch and Klompen Dancing. It is believed that neither Joey or Wyatt Klompened. They probably desperately wanted to. But apparently no one asked them to dance... |
Here we see Anna Dyksterhuis-Elenbaas, mother of Dennis, Eileen, Glen & Richard and the grandmother and great-grandmother of a very long list that can be found here. |

Some chose to eat lunch inside. I can identify the pair in the background. I believe that is Shirley and Jack Slotemaker. It appears a computer is running something behind them. I do not know the identity of the two young ladies in the foreground. |
A group of lunchers in the People's Place under the hand-scrawled signs describing the 'Schedule of Events' and the 'Silent Auction'...noted on the 'Schedule of Events' cardboard was closing remarks. At 8:00 PM. Have yet to locate anyone who heard the 'closing remarks'.... |

Getting ready for the Klompen Dancers, a little wiener dog named Bean, named after her uncle Dean, leads her mother Nancy on a leash. Bean and Dean often get confused as to who is being told not to do something, or who is being asked to sit or quit barking. |
The leader of the Klompens getting ready to Klomp. That is Agnes and Vin and Jessie behind the Klompen leader. |
The Klompen Dancers mingle among the crowd prior to striking the pavement with their wooden shoes. |
A close-up look at Jessie, Vin and Agnes... |
Klompen Watchers... |

More Klompen Watchers... |
One of my favorite aunts, the one in blue who is clapping, who must remain un-identified as she has a strict policy of no internet info appearing of her. I may be violating this rule just by using this photo. Standing behind my un-identified aunt is her big boy Scott. When I returned to Texas and was unpacking I found that the back of the shirt I wore that day had Scott's name tag stuck to it. I wondered why people called me Scott a couple times that day. Scott has always been a mischievous problem child. This trait seems to have accelerated as he nears his geriatric years... |
I was inside the People's Place trying to understand the lack of a register guest list problem and the bizarre way the group photo was done when someone came in and told me my mother was Klompen Dancing. Well, this did not sound normal, but nothing had been as I expected, so this was just one more thing. So I hurried out to watch. |
Here we see Tillie and Larry Lay leading what looks like a Klompen Konga line. I may be wrong about it being Tillie and Larry. To me Tillie and Larry and Adria and Vaughan all look alike. Further down the line is my mother, in the middle. My mom's dancing partner, the young man in blue, is Benji Blankers. On the far right is my little sister Michele, in blue, she's the one with a goofy look on her face in the photo on the left, and I think she is followed by my cousin Jeff's oldest boy Kevin. I had not seen Kevin for years, not since I brought him to the airport to fly to LA with my nephews to meet up with others to go to Disneyland. I think he was 5 or 6 then. I think he is 16 now. |
