In
our humble opinion Texas is the most interesting
State in the Union. It is the State of Mind in the
State of Texas that sets it apart from the other
states. One of the state's mottos, along with
"Don't Mess With Texas" is
"Texas, It's Like a Whole Other Country".
And so it is. In many ways it is insular from the
rest of the nation. Once you leave Texas by
whatever border you choose, it is quite a distance
before you reach the non-Texasfied part of the
planet, what with Oklahoma being Texas-lite, and
with heading east amounting to going deeper into
the South, with heading south leading to Mexico
and heading west leading to New Mexico with yet
more West Texas like flat desert. |

FORT
WORTH'S LOST HERITAGE
On
October 11, 2007 we used alternative transit to
travel to downtown Fort Worth with the intention
to take photos of what we've long felt was an
under appreciated attraction in downtown Fort
Worth, that being Heritage Park. We
were shocked at what we found. We think you will
be too. |

We visited Oakland Lake Park in Fort
Worth recently. Take
a look for yourself.
Also, go to Tandy
Hills Park and get a look at this
year's Prairie Fest.
Go here
for Don Young's Prairie Notes.

CULTURAL
DISTRICTS
Fort Worth has this area of town called the
Fort Worth Cultural District. The Cultural
District's Official
Website says this is the 3rd biggest Cultural
District in the nation. We have not been able to
find any other towns calling a part of their town
the Cultural District, but we did something else
that might surprise Fort Worthers and make them Green
With Envy. |

NEW
DALLAS COWBOY STADIUM
Did you know the Dallas Cowboys are building a
new stadium in Arlington, Texas? Arlington is not
in Dallas. Some people think the building of the
new billion $ stadium is a scandal of colossal
proportions. Find
out why. |

SIX
FLAGS OVER TEXAS
We've been to Six
Flags in Arlington a couple times. There
were many good photo opportunities. And
opportunities to get wet which we didn't like all
that much. We made it on only one of the Six Flags
roller coasters, that being the best wooden roller
coaster in the world, known as the Texas Giant. Go
here to watch some videos of a few Six Flags rides,
including the Texas Giant, plus a walk around the
park. |

NEW
PRISON NEAR DALLAS
A town near Dallas has turned an abandoned meat
packing plant into a prison called Sona,
incarcerating Panamanian and American prisoners in
very primitive brutal conditions. More
details? |

WENCHES
GONE MAD
Our visit to Scarborough
Faire Renaissance Festival near Waxahachie
was entertaining and fun, or so we thought. We
webpaged our experience after which an avalanche
of umbrage erupted that was very amusing,
for the most part, and ended up
with us being
invited by officials of the Houston Renaissance
Festival to document their faire in the same way.
We have yet to do so though. It's a long drive to
the Houston
area. |

TURNER
FALLS PARK
Year after year after year our most visited
webpage is not something located in Texas. It is a
park in Oklahoma, Turner
Falls Park. For
short periods other pages may be #1, like in March
it will be the Sweetwater
Rattlesnake Roundup, in July #1 will be
the Parker
County Peach Festival, in September it's
the Texas
State Fair, but most months Turner Falls
Park in Oklahoma is our most visited webpage, at
the height of summer getting thousands of visits a
month. It is a very scenic, very fun park, even if
it isn't in Texas. |

FORT
WORTH GAS
Fort Worth is experimenting with being the
first large city in America, maybe in the entire world,
to allow gas drilling within its
borders, often very close to where people live,
endangering water supplies, vegetation, peace and
quiet and human life. None of the wells have
exploded yet in Fort Worth. A few have in
surrounding areas. Citizens are starting to fight
back. Take
a look at our nearby gas neighbor and see if you'd
like this in your backyard.
