PECOS TEXAS MAP

TEXAS REGIONS

BIG BEND COUNTRY

Pecos, Texas is the largest town in and is the county seat of Reeves County.

Pecos is located on the west bank of the Pecos River at the eastern edge of the Chihuahuan Desert, in the Trans-Pecos region of West Texas, near the southern border of New Mexico.

Interstate 20, U.S. Highway 285 and U.S. Highway 80 intersect in Pecos. Pecos is one of my towns in West Texas that came to life with a depot being built during the construction of the Texas and Pacific Railway.

Before the arrival of the railroad there was a camp nearby, set up where cattle drives crossed the Pecos River.

After irrigation from underground aquifers was established Pecos farmers began growing cotton, onions and the famous Pecos cantaloupes.
