[Rosie in Seattle] [Wild West] [Rosie PenPals] [Rosie Postcards]

I wanted to see some of the famous Seattle tourist traps. But the only place my humans took me that I recognized was the Flying Saucer on a Stick. They didn't take me up the Stick. I wanted to ride the elevated train to nowhere called the Monorail, but my humans wouldn't pay the Rat Dog fare.

When I was in Seattle I met my nephew Joey for the first time. He's a big football player almost half as tall as the Space Needle...

I walked the mean streets of Seattle for hours, looking for my humans, looking for food, looking for something interesting to see. My paws got wet and cold. I was tired and hungry. There are very few public restroom facilities for Street Dogs. I found this very annoying.

I got so cold and wet that my new sweater couldn't keep me warm, so I had to wear my raincoat.

Eventually I found my way onto public transportation. Old Humans get a price break, but no break for a Rat Dog. At least it was heated and I was able to rest my paws for awhile. At the end of the trolley ride I was taken into this underground thing my humans called the Bus Tunnel. It was very scary. I don't think a Rat Dog had any business being that far underneath a city, so I let my feelings be known. Loudly. After awhile we got out of the tunnel at this thing called Westlake Center. I was happy again, except I had to herd away some annoyingly messy pigeons so that I could have some space. Rat Dogs hate pigeons.

I learned how to herd from watching the movie 'Babe' over and over again. There's a secret pigeon code I learned that makes the birds do my bidding. But I've promised not to share it with you. I left the pigeons and began my search for Planet Hollywood. Why, I do not know, since it has nothing to do with Seattle and from what I saw of Planet Hollywood it's just some lame franchise operation owned by some movie stars I've never heard of. But going there is something rube tourists from out of town feel they must do, so I felt I had to make an appearance.

What a spectacle! When I found Planet Hollywood I was forced to stand in line with Humans other than my humans. The strange Humans wanted to hold me and tell me how cute I am. As if I need to hear such things. When they heard I was on a photo shoot for my website, well, I was treated like a movie star!!! I was asked for my paw print and my URL. I'm glad my humans remembered to bring my 'Rosie the Rat Dog' business cards to hand out to my fans.

I enjoyed the Warner Brothers Store a lot more than Planet Hollywood. It was filled with my kind of people. Much more 'real' than those Hollywood sorts at Planet Hollywood.

But, I wanted to find the Pike Street Market. I figured I just had to follow my nose in the direction of fresh food smells.

While I was sniffing my way towards Pike Street, word of a celebrity walking the town had spread ahead of me. This nice guy insisted I be given a bouquet of flowers. One of my humans carried them for me. I was very grateful, even though I'm allergic to carnations. But food was all I really had on my mind.

It took me awhile with all those people wanting to pet me and asking for my 'card', but I made it to Pike Street Market. I like salmon. I couldn't believe the selection. I had myself a nice little filet.

Once my nutrition needs
 were met it was time to shop. 

The nice lady at this jewelry stand in Pike Street Market offered to go get me a special treat if I watched the store for her for a few minutes. I sold a pair of earrings while she was gone.

My favorite tourist attraction in Seattle was REI. There were trails for me to run on and this climbing rock everyone made a big deal about being the tallest indoor climbing rock in the world. Well, I made it to the top of that rock, easy. I didn't even wear a safety harness like the humans had to wear. I'll admit I did need a little help getting back down!

Well, that concludes my trip to Seattle. I'm sorry my humans didn't listen to my photo suggestions. I wanted them to take a picture of the cool Seattle skyline, the ferryboats, the Monorail, Safeco Field, the, well, the list goes on and on. Maybe by the time they take me to New York City I'll have learned to take my own pictures!!

I am safe, back home, with my new boy friend. I'm a firm believer in inter-species integration.
